Mint only from the official site linked from the project's verified X/Discord — “surprise mint” DMs are almost always drainers.
Read what you sign. setApprovalForAll or a “Permit” signature can hand over every NFT or token in your wallet.
Check the contract address against the creator's announcement; copycat collections reuse names and art.
Volume can be faked. Wash trading between a creator's own wallets inflates sales — look at unique buyers, not just volume.
Use a separate mint wallet with only the funds you plan to spend, and revoke old approvals regularly.
Royalties and roadmaps aren't guarantees. Treat promised utility as marketing until it ships.
